Who is being represented in "Gone"

The only character that is mainly being represented is the missing boy. He is portrayed as maybe a lonely figure that is gone missing. Not much is actually established with the boys personality as there is no dialogue. But the first impression that you gain from watching the opening sequence is that the boy is a very mysterious character who has maybe encountered very mystery events in the due course of becoming missing.

What is also being represented is how people actually view someone going missing. When a young person goes missing everyone usually jumps to a assumption that possibly that they have been kidnapped when it is not always the case. People forget that young children will have many strange thoughts and will not take into consideration what is going on in the child's life and will just jump to a assumption.

Changes Made

After are first day of shooting at the playing field after we had put the shots together on the computer it came to our attention that we did not have enough shots of the missing boy in the dark in the outside area. So we then rescheduled more shots to be filmed which only took only up to 10-15 seconds but made a big different with the variety of shots. This also helped us to establish the missing boy which is very important to establish the base of a story within the opening sequence of a film so the audience is not too confused. Here below is 2 of the new shots which were not in the original plan.

Music for "Gone"

Music is a big deal for any film but I believe it is most important for the Horror and Thriller Genre's. The music can determine the suspense of the film and how much it can make the film genre even more relevant by just with the music making the film scary. We gained our music inspiration from the first Woman in Black film. This is a very good example of just how the music can create a huge suspense for a film.

We wanted to use music for our film along these lines as the music in a film can create a good or a bad film in certain cases even though it is not very realised.

Characters and Roles

Connor - Connor took the role of being the young boys friend who he was playing football in the park with. He was the character who kicked the ball in one of the first shots and was looking around for the young boy in the park. 

James - James was the role of the young boy who went missing and mysteriously and in a sinister style walked around the place randomly. We did this to create a scary and creepy feel.

Jack - Jack mainly had the role of filming and directing. Jack had to make some really good shots which we pulled off which put him in uncomfortable positions and conditions. He was mainly in charge of making sure everyone was doing the shots correctly and also helped tom with editing.

Tom - Tom mainly had the role of editing. We changed a lot of shots and music which we wanted in our opening so Tom had a lot to edit i not a lot of time.

Location of Shots

This is where most of the filming will take place. This will feature in the outside shots through the wooded are where the boy goes missing.

More of the filming will also take place here. This will feature in only 2 or 3 shots but gives us more variety with lighting and location. 

Synopsis Planning

Once we had decided our genre for our opening sequences we then had to come together with ideas and what we could include in our film.

What we need:

Setting:

Opening sequence will be filmed throughout a dark park where most of it will be filmed. The rest will be filmed throughout dark corridor's and open areas. The film with me mostly filmed in the dark with some light areas.

Audience:

We are looking to aim our film towards the 15-30 audience. We will start at 15 because of the rating of our film which will be a certificate 15. Also through audience research we have gained knowledge that the audience that mostly enjoy horror films is more of the younger audience with the horror genre being a favourite with the younger generation.

Poster Inspiration

We gained Inspiration from these two posters which are two very well known horror films which are "The Uninvited" and "Mama". We found the inspiration through it being one of the top films in the genre we are creating a film in and the actual design and themes if the photos. Both of the posters show horror and loneliness which we wanted to portray in our film poster.

Audience Research

Target Audience 

Are main target audience will be between 15 - 30. As this film is a horror/thriller we must make sure the film is suitable for our target audience especially with the film certificate being a 15. 

Who will see our film? 

The main people that will see our film will be mainly people who are interested in horror/thriller films. Or possibly people who enjoy a tense film which puts you very on the edge.

Who is your Primary and Secondary Audience?

Primary - People who enjoy horror/Thriller films

Secondary - People who enjoy a adrenaline rush or possibly enjoy a drama film. 

Fonts for "Gone"

We looked at different possible fonts for "Gone". The First font we used was "28 days later" which we used in our first draft, but after feedback we found this was very common and used in many films. The font we have chosen now which we are very satisfied with is "coolvetica". This establishes the title well and gives a better affect on our film.

Props Research

These are some of the props we used for the shooting of our film "Gone"

Missing Boy Article - The first prop we decided was to create the missing boy poster. We researched on line and found a article about a missing boy and changed all the details so it would suit our story line.

Clothing for Boy - The main boy in the film we dressed him in all black to give a more mysterious and very unseen. This also makes the boy's face stand out also which we wanted to get across so they remember the face.

Strobe Lighting - We used strobe lighting in some of the shots to create a good effect on the boy's face which also with the black clothing also made his face stand out more.

Orange Ball - This ball was used to in-tale with the credits and is also used to establish the story when the boy goes missing.

Tripod - We used the tripod in many different shots to make the shots stable with no un-needed movement.

Institution

Film4 is the instutiton we  will be using for our film. This is very well known Institution which is based in the UK and is a very well known Instuition featuring in films in the UK and across the world. Film4 also has its own digital movie channel which has been involved with the growing of Film4. This is why we have Chosen Film4.

Film Certificate

For our film we must take into consideration what target audience we will be aiming at. Being a horror/thriller genre to bring the most out of these categories we believe that making the film 15+ is the most appropriate age to incincoropate especially the horror side of things.

Missing boy voice over 

This is the news article that I used to voice over "Gone" to give it a surreal effect. I feel like this was one of the main factors which established our film. Cutting the voice over being done at the right points was vital to make sure it sounds like we are talking about the missing boy in "Gone".

GONE Second Draft

Feedback for Gone first Draft

This is the feedback for our Gone first draft. Overall we received a mix average feedback with the average score being 44 which is the equivalent to a B. Below I have chosen different feedback scores showing high to lower marks. We will take all of our feedback into consideration when creating the final draft of our film.

 In the first feedback sheet I have chosen we received 50 this was one of our higher marks received. On this sheet the genre was identified as very evident and the music featured and the news article which was talked over the different parts of the film was also very good. 

In the second feedback sheet we received 49 this was one of our just above average marks. The music was also very popular again as was the news voice over also. They also recommend that we place our title of the film into a different piece of the opening sequence.

Our final feedback sheet that I have chosen was one of our lower marks that we received. They commented saying we established the story well but some shots were to dark which we will need to improve.

Shooting Schedule

Here is our shooting schedule, we stuck to this and completed the filming by Friday.  We mostly filmed at Shennans Park as well as the school to get the best shots, mainly shooting after school when it was fairly dark.
